I have (had) so many projects in my head.
I've tried to make lists.
Tried to prioritize.
I just couldn't get everything straight.
(could be the late night viewings of Dexter Season 5)
So, today I decided to make piles.
I love piles.
LOVE.
My husband hates them. He's kind of a neat freak. I'm kinda not.
I've been trying to not make them, but the inner pile freaks been coming out lately. Today I fully embraced her and made nice neat piles of projects that need to get done in the next few weeks.
If I can see it, I'll know what to work on next.
Phew, it feels so much better already!
(Thank goodness we finished Dexter)
Now what to do first?
Here's the list by the way:
1. Black and White Pok-a-dot School House Tunic Hybrid
2. Two pairs of Olive and S Jeans for Zeke
3. Quilt to T and J
4. Mod Kid Stripe Jail dress for me
5. Ofelia Dress for Amelia
6. Kimono Dress for Amelia
7. Pull over top for Zeke
It's a lot, but I think I can pull it off. Two weeks. That gives me about four hours for each project and a few extra for the quilt. Wish me luck!
Just curious, how do you plan your sewing/crafty stuff out?
You are a super sewer, of course you can do it! When I saw the piles on flickr, I thought you were packing for Sewing Summit already!
ReplyDeleteIs the school House tunic hybrid the pattern your plaid dress is made from? I love your dress. When I saw the School House pattern I didn't think I would like it. What did you change?
lady! that is what my kitchen table looks like! LOL
ReplyDeletehere's to kicking some "project" ass!!
X, h
Hi, I've arrived at your blog via Monkey Beans.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to know others stack and list and list and stack like I do. I just did last night. It's a wonderful sight to see all the little projects piled up on my table waiting for me.
For some reason, I end up adding more to the stack than taking off. :)
I am such a "piler", but I have had to somewhat retrain myself lately. I have been sewing since I was little, and started quilting 3 years ago. Now my stash is compiled of every type of fabric you can imagine. The hubs and I bought our first home 2 years ago and now I have my own sewing room; which I quickly stockpiled with 1001 ideas and the inventory to make them reality. I would pile each project so I could see what was ready to sew, what was in progress, etc. Then my OCD self walked in one day and immediately wanted to light the room on fire and never look back. Enter the almighty ziploc. They come in so many sizes. I can fit quilt kits, clothes kits, you name it, in one and b/c it's clear, I can still see everything. Also, these guys shelve well with a couple bookends. My brain totally gets what your brain is doing. Find what works and work what you find, lady.
ReplyDeleteI definitely make piles, too. My bedroom is also my sewing room, and geez. My boyfriend hates when I just leave my crap everywhere in the room, which is how I normally leave it. All of my fabric does not fit into the fabric receptacles (hmm, maybe I have too much? Never!).
ReplyDeleteyou could always take photos of everything and print them out and put them on a board. Then you can see what needs to be done still, without the piles that drives your dear husband bonkers.
ReplyDeleteI love your piles. You can come make some at my house anytime!
ReplyDeleteI'm a pile on top of pile person! I wish I wasn't, I'm more like your man, but sometimes there is no choice. especially once I've pulled fabric.
